Background and Training
Dr. Howard’s work has been enriched by advanced studies in British Object-Relations, Self-Psychology, Humanistic Psychology, Relationship Theories, Family Systems, Spectrum of Consciousness Theory, Transpersonal Psychology, Buddhist Psychology, Experiential Process Inquiry, Core Energetics, Diamond Approach, Energy Psychologies and various Mind-Body modalities. Studying with experts in the field such as David Schnarch, Ph.D., Diane Shainberg, Ph.D., Frank Putman, M.D., Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., Robert Mayer, Ph.D., Stephen Levine, and John Lee has deeply enhanced her work.
Dr. Howard is a certified grief recovery counselor, a certified relationship therapist, and is a certified advanced clinical hypnotherapist. Dr. Howard is also certified by the New York Federation of Alcoholism Counselors.
Attending the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, she went on to graduate from A Society of Souls: The School for Nondual Healing and Awakening, created by Jason Shulman. She was an active faculty member for over six years, teaching the graduate studies program in Integrated Kabbalistic Healing.
She has studied extensively with other master healers including Rosalyn Bruyere, Shelby Hammitt, Hanna Kroger, David Alan Slater and Emily Conrad D’oud. Also included in her studies were Health Kinesiology, Radionics, and Continuum. She found her work with Dr. Richard Bartlett learning Matrix Energetics very helpful in with herself and using it with others. For many years, Dr. Howard has studied meditation and has a personal meditation practice. Her dedication and innate curiosity led her to explore different spiritual paths with a variety of teachers.
Dr. Howard’s career as an actor/dancer/singer prepared her for speaking in front of large crowds, as well as in front of a camera. She eventually realized that her acting career wasn’t the path she needed to follow in order to fulfill her deepest most authentic mission and it was during this time she began her studies in psychology and spirituality. Looking back, Dr. Howard realizes that the workshops, speaking engagements and being a guest expert on a variety of television programs is why she needed to go through those steps as an actor. Although her acting career was satisfying, she is grateful to have taken this rewarding fork in the road.

How do you feel when you don't know the answer to a question?
You might be thinking, well that depends on the question. Yet, many people feel anxious when they don't have answers. As children some of us were told that it's not ok to question things, or that someone who acts like they "know" is the real authority so asking questions might imply that you are less than others.
I like to look at questions and questioning in a different way, in a deeper way.

It’s hard to imagine anything that affects us and influences us more than relationships. Life is all about relationships, whether it is with things, people, ourselves or with the universe. Every day we negotiate the world from these relationships. Relationships vary in their nature, from those with our loved ones—spouse/lover, families, friends, pets—to our homes, our cars, our careers, and, most importantly, to ourselves.

The magnified and unified horror of what we experienced a few short years ago on 9/11 is beyond what most of us Americans have seen in our lifetime. We still can't help but feel helpless, angry, sad, grief, numb, scared, as well as many other hard-to-define feelings. Even though years have gone by, living part-time in New York City gave me some sense of the feelings of the eyewitnesses, bereaved families and everyday residents of the city.

I have been fortunate enough to experience the strong healing hand of a straight-talking, spiritually connected, psychologically astute, loving and inspirational woman by the name of Jennifer Howard. With the precision of an expert archer, Jennifer delves into the secrets of my psyche with love and compassion while at the same time never allowing me to blind myself to myself. With her confident guidance I have been opened to truths in myself and my life - revelations that could have left me terrified – yet I have never felt alone in the process, rather there is a peaceful sense of being held and protected coupled with the knowledge that all will work itself out in time, that life can be joy and that all one dreams of is, in fact, possible.

Your workshops are richly informative because you are so widely read and insightful. You are the real deal and your knowledge helps me stretch my mind. You present with such a remarkably human element the information is embodied and felt by the listeners. I actually feel good listening to you speak. While you are leading the listeners along the path of "vigorous self discovery" you bring humor, warmth and insight and that helps take us deeper within. I cannot end without telling you again, that, "you sparkle" You remind of something that Davinci said, "The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding."

From the perspective of a patient who has seen other therapists in the past, I believe there is something special about Dr. Jennifer Howard. In a nutshell, she just ‘gets it‘ and alot faster then other professionals I have worked with before. She makes me feel comfortable during each session; and despite my initial resistance has an uncanny ability to get to the heart of the matter, in a non-threatening and compassionate fashion. That, coupled with some sound practical advice, has tangibly helped me over the short period of time we have been working together.

I was in a coma for about two months. But when I gained my conscience, I realized for the previous two months, I was living in a dream world. My dreams participants were doctors and nurses. Most of the scenes were not in a regular hospital. They were at different places: clubs, houses, apartments, etc. The doctors and nurses were attractive and informative. I asked one doctor what happened to me, he told me that I was in Europe (somewhere in Germany covering an event) and I fell from a ledge. The doctors in that country performed emergency surgery which saved my life.
Then I started reading your e-mail and one of your statements from your e-mail helped me considerably, "It is our job to do the untangling of our unproductive belief systems that run our lives."
The dreams helped me deal with my injuries, but your e-mail helped me come to terms with my condition. For instance, I realized that if I think positive, eat well - things will work itself out. Somehow, your words illuminated my existence. For instance, "If we restore the unhealed slivers of our consciousness, we bring together life affirming possibilities for our personal lives as well as a society as a whole."
I was able to drop all my negative thoughts and relax.
Thanks for your help, ML
