In Buddhist tradition, the sutras are the records or the oral teachings of Gautama Buddha; In Hindu tradition, sutras are often written in the form of aphorisms, which are concise and often clever. In prayer, it is better to have a heart without words than words without heart, is an example of an aphorism by Mohandas Ghandi, and is meant to identify an important moral principle, set out in understandable, simple form.
