In certain Hindu traditions, Vishnu is the Supreme God; he is the essence of all beings – the creator and destroyer. The Bhagavad-Gita describes Vishnu as having a form that is beyond human perception; the Puranas describe Vishnu as the four-armed god, his hands holding a lotus, mace (scepter), conch shell, and chakra wheel.
