In the structure of the Kabbalistic universe, the human soul has five levels: Chayah, the “life-soul”, is the second highest of the five levels of the soul, and the gateway to yechidah, unity. At the soul level of chayah, the soul is in a state of “emanation”, experiencing a sense of oneness with the universe.
