In Buddhism, Maitreya is the Buddha who is to return to Earth in the future and achieve full enlightenment with seven days. Maitreya’s arrival will reveal the true dharma to all people, and begin the construction of a new world. Since the early 600’s BCE people have claimed to be the Maitreya Buddha and religious movements have developed around them; most have been overthrown by force.
