Amitabha is the principal buddha, the Buddha of Infinite Light. As the bodhisattva, Dharmakara, Amitâbha accomplished good deeds over many lifetimes and as a result gained merit and awareness, resulting in enlightenment. Amitabha is the personification of oyasama, the principle that the universe assists the good.
