An experiential, rather than “talking”, form of psychotherapy developed by Fritz Perls, Laura Perls, Paul Goodman, and Ralph Hefferline. Gestalt therapy is based in the present and on the individual’s relationship with the world. Initially, the role of the Gestalt therapist is not to interpret or evaluate the individual’s experience, but rather to guide the client to focus awareness on the existing situation in order to explore that experience.
