In Hinduism, avidya means ignorance; the activity of the deluded mind. Avidya will end when one attains spiritual illumination through knowledge. The Bhagavad Gita states that all suffering and limitation imposed by the ego comes from avidya. Hatred, injury, and greed – which are products of ignorance - cannot exist alongside knowledge and will cease to exist with the end to avidya.
