“Goals. There's no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. There's no telling what will happen when you act upon them.”
Jim Rohn

In Achieving Success - Part 1, we discussed the fact that how you choose to spend your time makes a real difference in achieving success.  In Achieving Success - Part 2 we picked a goal and began imagining and envisioning it. In Achieving Success - Part 3 we picked a step toward that goal and looked at what might be keeping us from taking that step forward.  In Achieving Success - Part 4 we examined what we tend to neglect or avoid in our lives or businesses.

Ahhhh … Inspiration!

Let’s take the first sentence in the Jim Rohn quote above and look at the concept of “inspiration” together.

On the road to achieving success, it helps to set goals that fuel us with enthusiasm, motivation, inspiration, and get our engines humming. I was talking to a writer who has been trying to finish her book for years, but she just can’t get herself to do what it takes to move the book project forward. Her excitement is about what is currently going on in her life. So, we talked about how she could use the excitement about her life and then begin journaling to get inspired. Some of what she’s journaling will probably end up going into that book or another book later.

Inspiration is defined as “the drawing in of breath; inhalation as well as the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.” Interesting to put those two definitions together and see that being inspired is as natural as breathing.

Take a moment and think about what inspires you in your life. Is it natural beauty, a sunset, the wind, taking a walk, a great cup of Joe, a good book, art, music, lunch with a friend?  What gets your engine humming these days?

You might want to take some notes on the following exercise:

•    Deep breath. Take a minute and think of a goal you want to achieve.
•    Name 5 ways you are excited and inspired about this goal.
•    What excites you most?
•    Notice your energy as you imagine achieving this goal.
•    Notice your body, your thoughts, your feelings.
•    Take a moment to write about what you notice.

Use what inspires you to spur you onward toward your greatness!

We will talk about believing in your goals in Achieving Success - Part 6

Let me know how it goes.
