I sat down the first day to begin the week of Loving Kindness meditation. Even just saying the words, “loving kindness” has my body begin to relax and I notice that I breathe more deeply. I start repeating these words to myself, “May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I live with ease. May I be safe. May I be at peace. May I relax.”
As I repeated these phrases I added others that came to mind. I began to feel I was bathed in grace. I naturally turned outward towards others and other phrases came to me: “May you be at peace. May the world be at peace.” I named people I knew, and I felt I was blessing all kinds of people, places and things. I could feel the connection throughout the universe for a moment. All of us are bathed in grace. We don’t always experience this, but that connection and grace is constant. It’s always there. I felt so blessed to be blessing!
