Life is precious! I was reminded once again of that fact, when I heard the news that actor Patrick Swayze, died Monday. I’m sure you know he died after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was only 57.

Seen as “hunky” by many of us, the actor was known for movies such as “Dirty Dancing,” “Ghost,” “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar” plus others and is also currently staring in “The Beast," an A&E drama series.

Like all couples, I’ll bet that their relationship wasn’t perfect but it is a sweet story that Swayze was married in 1975 to Lisa Niemi. She is a fellow dancer who took lessons with his mother and they met when he was 19 and she was 15. Another person with southern roots, he was born in 1952 in Houston. He was the son of Jesse Swayze and choreographer Patsy Swayze.

I had the good fortune to be introduced to him several years ago in New York City attending a dance concert of a well known company that he and his wife Lisa were helping out. He was as handsome as ever, very gracious and his wife seemed very sweet.

I truly felt sad to hear the news. Life is indeed fast and precious. Take a moment today to connect with yourself, your friends, and your family. Know that you are held by a Grace that is greater than yourself.
