"Here Comes the Spring, Here comes the Spring and I say, it's alright…"

Winter was hard for many of us this year and that can make the arrival of Spring seem even sweeter. I had a friend say to me on that first warm day we had last week, “Now that Spring is here, I just want to play and run around all the time!”

Sure, it’s important to be able to have time to get out, play, and run around. At the same time, many of us need to continue working and be productive.

Our goals or jobs don’t usually ebb and flow with the seasons. They require our commitment and mindfulness year-round. It took four seasons of focused writing just about every day to complete my book, Your Ultimate Life Plan. 

So, after a long cold Winter, Spring can potentially be as distracting as it is invigorating.


When you use the renewed energy you feel from being out in the sun again to reconnect with your passion and purpose, spring fever can actually help you focus more deeply on whatever it is that needs doing.

For this to happen several things are helpful:

1)    Find and nurture the wise part of you who knows that whatever the weather might be, you have important aspirations in your life. Maybe you need to make a living. Maybe you need to clean out the garage. Maybe you have a long standing cherished goal that pulls at your heart strings.

2)    It also helps to schedule time for both work and play, which creates a sense of balance in your life and keeps you moving forward.

3)    If you’re itching to get out, take a few minutes to walk outside, and feel the sun on your face. Allow yourself to become a solar panel of sorts. Take that energy right back to where you work and run with it.

Enjoy both the Spring and your important goals.
